Quote

We do not receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make for us, which no one can spare us, for our wisdom is the point of view from which we come at last to regard the world.” — Marcel Proust

Something to Watch - Leave the World Behind

In the spirit of a bunch of people losing their phone service earlier this week, here’s a movie that marks an event like that as the beginning of the end. Leave the World Behind kicks ass. It came and went under the radar, but it simply needs the love.

Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts play a married couple on vacation when two strangers come to their home bearing news of a blackout. As the threat grows, tensions rise, and a lot of questions are raised. Who are these strangers, are they telling the truth about the news, about who they are, and overall, what the hell is going on.

This movie isn’t just a tense thriller, it goes far deeper than that. A big feeler, and an even bigger thinker.

Something to Think About

Alaska crosses the 180th meridian, making it the furthest eastern and western US state. If you don’t know what the 180th meridian means, google it. It will still be confusing.
